Plant and Microbe Adaptations to Winter Environments in Northern Areas

May 19.-21. 2000
Akureyri, Iceland

The seminar is arranged by Nordic Association of Agricultural Scientists in cooperation with International Workshop on Plant-Microbe Interactions at Low Temperatures under Snow and International Committee on Global Climate and Plant Environmental Stress. This is NJF-seminar number 311.

This seminar is not only on interaction of plants and microbes. The idea is to collect scientists interested in adaptation and survival of plants, and scientists working on low temperature microbes. Besides discussing plants and microbes seperatly, the interaction of organisms living near or under snow and ice in the north and the impact of climate change on those will be evaluated. The scientific program will be divided into four sessions:

 1)   Microbes

2)    Plants

3)    Climate change

4)    Interactions (microbes – plants – environment).

A fifth session may be added to the program where international research programs will be discussed and perhaps multinational projects formed.

Seminar language is english. There are expected 70-100 participants from many countries.
