Arrival in Keflavik, transport to Akureyri, North Iceland.
Important that all arrive in the afternoon or earlier.
Meeting in Akureyri.
Travel from Akureyri to Hallormsstadur (Eglisstadir) over the
Mid-Atlantic rift-zone. Histic Andosols, Brown Andosols, desert Vitrisols,
volcanic- and glacial geology.

Meeting in morning.
Transport to Reykjavik in afternoon
Beginning of post-meeting excursion
The trip takes participants from East Iceland south of
Vatnajökull glacier (largest glacier in Europe) to the Southern lowlands and to
Reykjavik. Covers old Tertiary terrain with deeply dissected colorful central
volcanoes and magma chambers, to the glacial flood plains and active volcanic
belt in the South.
Hallormsstadur to Djupavik (South-East). Tertiary landscapes,
deep colorful valleys.
Djupavik—Hörgsland (South, near Skaftafell National Park). Deep
valleys, Vatnajökull glacier, floodplains.
Hörgsland—Höfðabrekka (South, near Vík).
Huge floodplains and active volcanism.
Number of participants is limited to about 40 people.
