ANDOSOLS

Andosols are soils that forme in the volcanic regions of the world. These soils have special properties that make them an important and unique natural resource. They are also called Andisols (U.S.).

Andosols are usually very fertile soils and they occur in some of the most densely populated areas of the world. However, these soils are vulnerable to disturbance that can cause landslides, and erosion by wind and water.

In Europe most of the Andosol areas are very popular turist areas and are  subjected to increasing pressure by humans, such as urban expansion and pollution.
