The European Union COST Program has implemented a concerted
research action designated "Soil Resources of European Volcanic
Systems" (COST Action 622).
Andosols, soils that form in volcanic regions, are unique in
character, fertile resources but extremely sensitive to influence by man and
other disturbance.
The main objective of the Action is to develop collaboration
between European experts within the field of Andosol research.
A Management Committee, made up of two representatives from
each participating country has been formed to correlate the activities of
the Action. This internet site has been designed for the Management
Committee to make available information about European Andosols and the
activities of COST Action 622.
