N16 - GR.SOIL  DESCRIPTION:

Fines seem to be washed out of the upper part of the A-C horizons. 

A 0-7 cm            Brown (10YR4/3) sandy loam, very weak coarse granular structure, very friable, many fine and very fine roots, slightly calcareous, 15% 0.2-2 cm gravel, made of basalt (70%) and pumice (30%), no rock fragment weathering, clear smooth boundary.
A2 : 7-40 cm            Dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) loamy sand,  structureless, many fine and very fine roots, slightly calcareous, 30% 0.2-2 cm gravel, made of basalt (70%) and pumice (30%), no rock fragment weathering, clear smooth boundary.
C:  40-68 cm.   Yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) sandy loam, structureless, few very fine roots, moderately calcareous, 10% 0.2-2 cm gravel, made of basalt (70%) and pumice (30%), no rock fragment weathering, abrupt wavy boundary.

C   8-100+cm.  Brown (10YR 5/3) sandy loam, weak fine and medium subangular blocy structure, very friable, no roots, moderately calcareous, 30% 0.2-2 cm gravel, made of basalt (70%) and pumice (30%), no rock fragment weathering, original Minoan IV volcanic materials.
